2001 San Angelo Stock Show Open Boer Goat Show

Story and photos by Andy Oliver -- andyman@consultant.com

The usual cool air of the San Angelo Stock Show greeted participants in the Open Boer Goat Show as the show got underway last Saturday, March 10th. The turnout for this ABGA sanctioned show seemed a little low compared to past shows in San Angelo. (On the previous Monday, however, over 1300 goats had been shown in the Market Wether Goat Show with almost every class being split, and the area surrounding the show ring standing room only.)
The official totals for the Boer goat show, provided by the San Angelo Stock Show office, stated 351 goats were entered with 210 goats actually shown. Still, most of the participants seemed to be in good spirits and ready to compete, and the goats were their usual good natured selves.

Grand Champion Fullblood and American Purebred Female was awarded to N&K Ranches; Reserve Champion Fullblood and American Purebred Female went to Richard Parmer, Par 5 Boer Goats.

Grand Champion Fullblood and American Purebred Male also went to N&K Ranches; Reserve Champion Fullblood and American Purebred Male went to Kallie-Harie Reds.

Downen Livestock took the Grand Champion Open Breeding Billy, while Antelope Creek Ranch went home with Reserve Champion Open Breeding Billy. The honor of Grand Champion Percentage Female was awarded to Kyran Larner, with Reserve Champion Percentage Female going to Johnnie Ford.

Kyran Larner was awarded Percentage Premier Breeder, while the honor of Fullblood Premier Breeder went to N&K Ranches.
