Gayla Sue Mathews|
Dec 19, 1949 - Feb 27, 2002.
Gayla Mathews' life was remembered and honored during memorial services held at the Oak Park Funeral Home in Alvin, TX, on Saturday, March 2nd, 2002.
Gayla's family was joined in the 10:00 a.m. service by over 130 of her friends from all walks of life. There were goat people, church people, neighbors, and combinations of all three. These were just a few of the many lives and spirits that Gayla touched.
Tony Mathews, Gayla's husband of 25 years, her children, her siblings, and her parents were lifted up by the outpouring support. The family's strong religious conviction and faith will play the primary role in what will be a long healing process.
Gayla had an eye for quality in Boer goats. She could see high potential in goats that the original breeders had relegated to "brood" status. Several of our animals were elevated under her care and management to be champions at various livestock exhibitions.
We loved Gayla Mathews... her attitude, her conviction, her skill in dealing with adversity, and her unselfish dedication to the support of those less fortunate than herself set her apart of the rest of us.
