It seems that Domain Registry of America has joined the throng of spammers out there... They have a program that reads your record at your current domain registry and sends you a "custom" email implying that you "chose to transfer and renew" your expiring domain.
Below is the email they sent me. I NEVER contacted them. I WOULD never contact them - I was already tired of the scams they send through the US mail!
To (my client's name was here),
Thank you for choosing to transfer and renew
(my client's domain name was here) with the
Domain Registry of America.
Your transfer and renewal of
(my client's domain name was here) is not yet
complete.
This email is being sent to verify your email
address is still active.

Do not - I beseech you - DO NOT respond to emails like this. This is a scam. As soon as you click on the link in their email they notify your current registrar that you want to transfer your domain to Domain Registry of America. They also send you a bill! This could cost you a lot of money! You're probably paying less for your registration now than you would be with DRofA - If your domain was registed by me I know for sure that you'd be paying more with DRofA!
