This year marked the 100th anniversary of the Florida State Fair and the fourth annual Open Boer Goat Show. The show took place on Thursday, Feb. 12. The mid-week time slot tends to affect the number of exhibitors but with so many types of livestock at the fair and the Boer's lack of seniority, our push for a weekend show cannot yet be met. We will continue in our efforts as spectator interest in the goats is excellent and with close to 500,000 visitors, the fair presents an excellent opportunity to showcase the Boer goat.

USBGA was the sanctioning registry and Annette Maze was the judge. A total of 59 goats were judged. This is the first year that the fair has allowed bucks to be shown and also the first year for a boer influence wether show. Youth showmanship was judged for the second year with prizes awarded by area breeders to the youth.
