Our trio of ranches, Java Boers of Livingston, ROK Ranch/Shadow Ridge Ranch of Fresno and Sundance Kids of Lodi, would like to thank all of those who attend the 2nd Annual Cal-West Boer Connection Sale on October 16th, 2004 at the Sundance Ranch in Lodi, CA. The day turned out to be perfect after some foothill fires had settled smoke into the area in the days before the sale, and the rain came the day after! We were pleased to have over 225 people in attendance and to see so many interested in the Boer industry attend the sale, with many newcomers and a few of those that had many questions and were just interested in seeing and learning more.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious Goat BBQ prepared by Jeff Wagner & Jeff Graham, with raviolis, salad and bread compliments served by the Tokay Girls Basketball team. Registered buyers were put in a door prize drawing and received some items such as Corian Cutting Boards and Coasters, donated by L & W Cabinets, to help kick off and start the auction.
We had 76 registered buyers and with Ken Thompson as our Auctioneer extraordinaire, and ring men Jeff Wagner & Jeff Culbertson, the bidding was rapid and steady. A select group of 79 goats, 13 bucks and 8 percentage does and 58 fullblood does, were offered in varying ages from 4 mos to 4 years old.
Ron Marsh & Tina Tingue of Escalon Boer Goats purchased the high selling doe ROK Tanna for $3000. The high selling buck ROK 413 went to Suzanne Kiesel of Jane Garden Ranch, Corning, CA. We thank Cliff & Marilyn Burke of Ewetopia Farm Boer Goats, Oakland Oregon for making the trip to California and being a volume buyer as well as volume buyers Buzz and Betty Sawyer of Lodi. We are very excited and appreciative that we have genetics traveling to Texas, as Jim and Sandra Rosenbaum ventured to California and purchased some does that are on their way to Texas. SDK Painted Buffie and Wizard genetics we hope will make a splash in Texas!
A special thanks to Pete & Joe Castaneda, Gary Valente, Trenton Lay, Marilyn & Clarissa Castaneda, and the Tokay Girls Basketball team, and of course the Schallberger kids, for all of their help during the day, including loading goats out at the end of the sale.
The Cal-West Boer Connection decided that it was time for California to step up to the plate and offer some sound quality animals and genetics to the West Coast. We have continued this year with another great success. The Golden State is now on the map, watch for more Production Sales to be popping up all over the state. Again, a special thanks to all those who came to support the Cal-West Boer Connection 2nd Annual Production Sale! We hope for those who attended it was a terrific experience and hope that you will be back again next year, and for those who missed it, watch for more information as we have already begun our planning for the 3rd Annual Cal-West Boer Connection Sale.
