Four States Boer Goat Association to Hold Inaugural Show

The newly formed Four States Boer Goat Association will hold it's first ABGA sanctioned show on Saturday and Sunday July 16/17 at the Four States Fairgrounds in Texarkana, Arkansas. 4SBGA was organized in order to promote fullblood and percentage Boer goats in the four states area including NE Texas, SE Oklahoma, SW Arkansas and NW Louisiana.

Texarkana is a uniquely situated city that is very accessible to producers in all four states as well as being centrally located to the rest of the country. 4SBGA intends to host two ABGA sanctioned shows and at least two market shows annually as well as seminars and workshops. The Four States Fairgrounds will continue to be an increasingly popular site for goat sales as well, especially now that the Texarkana Bandits hockey team has contracted to have it's own facility be constructed. This leaves both the air conditioned arena and the Livestock Pavilion available for use.

There will be a sanctioned junior show on Saturday this year. Brenda Larner (Agnew Boer Goats) will judge both the Open and Junior shows on Saturday while Tracy Kiehl of Oklahoma will judge the Open show on Sunday.

4SBGA will hold elections during the weekend and set dates for future shows at this time. Much interest has already been expressed by a number of individuals in supporting this show and we are gathering sponsors quickly. 4SBGA encourages potential sponsors to contact us as soon as possible about the show this July.

Any questions concerning the upcoming show as well as request for entries and premiums may be made to 4SBGA secretary Jennifer Hawthorn at or Randy Murray at Other details may be accessed at
