PMGPA Plans Show Wether Seminar

The Pennsylvania Meat Goat Producers Association will present a club goat guide and show wether seminar on Saturday, March 25th, 2006, at 10 A.M. The location is the PA Department of Ag Livestock Evaluation Center near State College, Pennsylvania.

Featured presentations will include judges from the American Meat Goat Association explaining what they are looking for in a winning market goat.

This seminar is a comprehensive guide to:

  • Choosing a Market Goat
  • Feeding & Management
  • Parasites
  • Dehorning or tipping horns
  • Castration
  • Common Health Problems
  • Training
  • Fitting (clipping & grooming)
  • Show Preparation
  • Market Goat Showmanship

"A winning meat goat is a combination of proper selection, nutritional management, and grooming as well as quality showmanship" says Julie Maxwell, representing the PMGPA.

Donation of $5 per person (4-H & FFA members $4) includes a chance to win a show wether. Winner will be drawn the day of the seminar.
