Oregon Meat Goat Producers held their fourth annual meeting and dinner on Saturday, November 4, 2006. 74 members and guests gathered at the Drain Community Center , Drain, Oregon to share ideas and information and enlarge and enhance the meat goat industry.
Melissa Fery, Small Farms Instructor, OSU Extension Service from Benton, Linn and Lane Counties spoke on the importance of knowing about and using the Extension Service.
Sharon Findling, outgoing association President, gave out awards to the members who have volunteered during the past year including a gold star for Zach Nash (12), Youth member who gave up his Saturday to volunteer for the Annual Meeting work crew and Gabrielle Bessey (7) who helped pass out awards and raffle items.
Marilyn Burke, outgoing association Vice-President, barbecued two goats for the dinner which also included potato salad, cowboy beans and hot rolls.
Everyone brought dessert for a wonderful finish to a great meal. The meeting, dinner and raffle were a great success and the Oregon Meat Goat Producers wishes to thank everyone who helped make it possible.
