Schedule & Forms
The 16th Annual AMGA Membership Meeting, Conference, Show, and Sale is scheduled for July 20th and 21st 2007, in Huntsville, Alabama at the Alabama A & M Agribition Center, 4925 Moores Mill Road.
The anonymous show will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. with all show animals to be sold during the sale on Saturday afternoon. For those of you who have never seen an anonymous show, the goats are turned out into the ring with no handlers and judged anonymously. The judge will have helpers to catch and hold goats if he wants to handle the animal. The Judge is TBA and the Speaker is TBA. Awards include ribbons, plaques, and for the Grand Champion Buck and the Grand Champion Doe chairs with the AMGA logo embroidered on them.
The sale provides an excellent chance for producers to pick up superior quality stock. Any AMGA member may consign animals to this sale and goats do not have to be shown to be in the sale.
As in past years the nomination and election of officers will take place during the general membership meeting, and this year there are director positions coming open. Any AMGA member in good standing may be nominated for and elected to fill these positions.
Also, during the membership meeting the Willie B. “Bill” Whitehead, JR. Scholarship will be awarded to the winning 2007 graduating senior.
Saturday morning there will be donuts, juice and coffee available, and before the sale begins.
Our speaker will give his presentation from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with a short break, and then a selected panel will answer questions from the floor about goats until 12 noon.
The AMGA will provide a delicious goat burger lunch with all the trimmings. Before the Live Auction of animals, there will be a Silent Auction of donated items with proceeds going to the AMGA.
Conference fees are $15.00 for single and $30.00 for family registrations. Consignment fees are $10.00 per head/set consigned (10% commission over $100.00 sales) and the show fee is $5.00 per head.
For those unaware of who AMGA is, it is a non-breed specific, commodity type of organization representing the interest of U.S. Goat Producers since 1992. The conference is the perfect opportunity to meet your Board of Directors and to voice your concerns for the Meat Goat Industry.
