The Freestone Co. (Texas) Goat Breeders Assn. will be having a Spring Pen Sale on Saturday March 29th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fairgrounds in Fairfield, Texas. This will be a private treaty sale, so buyers will not have to pay a commission and you can haggle the price to your hearts content without someone outbidding you! Only members will be allowed to sell their good, healthy stock and bucks must be 5 years old or less with a cost of $10 per pen with a 5 animal limit or one buck per pen.
If you are a resident or your operation is in Anderson, Freestone, Henderson, Leon, Limestone, or Navarro Cos. And would like to join prior to the sale in order to participate in it then you are invited to attend the meeting on Tuesdays February 12th , or March 11th at 7 p.m. at the Freestone Co. The Freestone County Goat Breeders Association was formed in 2005 for county residents to use as a forum and for assistance in marketing, husbandry, and animal care for primarily meat goats, but anyone with goats or an interest in them is invited to join. Members approved by-laws in 2006 inviting the residents of Anderson, Henderson, Leon, Limestone, and Navarro Cos. to join the Association. Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Freestone County Courthouse in Fairfield. Events planned include two sales a year and field demonstrations.
