Interpretation and Violation of Rules: The Junior American Boer Goat Association (JABGA) reserves to its Directors the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and to arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions and differences in regard thereto or otherwise arising out of or connected with, or incident to, the National Show. The JABGA further reserves to its Directors the right to amend or add to these rules as its judgment may determine. Any exhibitor who violates any of the rules will forfeit all privileges and be subject to such penalty as the Directors may order.
Judges Decision: The decision of the judges shall be final in all cases except where fraud or misrepresentation on the part of an exhibitor is proven. Any such claim of an exhibitor’s fraud or misrepresentation must be timely submitted as an Official Protest as outlined in the following rule.
Official Protests: Official Protests shall be submitted to the Superintendent in writing and accompanied by a $300.00 non-refundable fee. Any such protest must plainly state the cause for the complaint and must be delivered to the Superintendent immediately upon the occasion for such protest. Any protest filed more than 24 hours after the alleged incident shall not be considered. All protests shall be referred to the Directors which shall have full and final authority to determine the matter and from whose decision there is no appeal. Judging procedures shall not be interrupted for protest investigation.
Disqualification: Any goat showing any pronounced defect or abnormality will be barred from the show. Any evidence of a cosmetic surgical alteration of an exhibited animal will be a disqualification. Also, the exhibitors of animals deemed to have been surgically altered will be banned from future JABGA National Shows. Artificial coloring will be a disqualification. Illegible tattoos or tattoos and/or microchips inconsistent with registration papers will result in disqualification. Should any animal that has been awarded a prize be disqualified, the lower placing animals will not move into any higher position.
NO LIABILITY: JABGA SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS, INJURY OR DAMAGE IN CONNECTION WITH, ARISING OUT OF, OR INCIDENT TO THE NATIONAL SHOW.
RELEASE OF LIABILITY: PARTICIPANT EXPRESSLY WAIVES ALL RIGHTS TO CLAIM AGAINST JABGA BY REASON OF, AND RELEASES JABGA FROM ANY LIABILITY WHATSOEVER WITH RESPECT TO, ANY INJURY TO PERSON OR DAMAGE TO OR LOSS OF PROPERTY (INCLUDING CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES) RESULTING FROM ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER (EXPRESSLY INCLUDING JABGA’S NEGLIGENCE).
INDEMNIFICATION: PARTICIPANT AGREES TO HOLD HARMLESS AND UNCONDITIONALLY INDEMNIFY JABGA AGAINST AND FOR ALL CLAIMS, LIABILITIES, LOSSES, COSTS, EXPENSES, AND DAMAGES (ACTUAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE) WHICH JABGA MAY AT ANY TIME SUFFER OR SUSTAIN OR BECOME LIABLE FOR BY REASON OF ANY ACCIDENTS, DAMAGES, INJURIES OF LOSSES EITHER TO PERSONS, PROPERTY OR BOTH, OF PARTICIPANT, OF ANY OTHER PARTICIPANT, OF ANY OTHER PARTIES, OR TO THE PROPERTY OF JABGA, IN ANY MATTER ARISING FROM, CONNECTED WITH OR INCIDENT TO THE ACTIVITIES HEREUNDER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY NEGLIGENT ACT OR OMISSION OF JABGA, IT’S OFFICERS AGENTS, EMPLOYEES OR VOLUNTEERS.

Eligibility: Competition is open to all members of the JABGA. Goats must be registered in the name and JABGA membership number of the exhibitor and must have been owned at least in part by the exhibitor and in the ABGA Herdbook on or before July 1, 2002. Exhibitor's name and JABGA membership number must appear as an owner on the certificate.
Entries: There is no limit on the number of goats that can be entered in a class by an exhibitor. Application for entry must be on current, official entry forms. Entries will be accepted upon arrival at the show.
Entry Deadline: Entry deadline is 6 PM on July 19 for the breeding show.
Entry Fees: The entry fee for all animals is $20 per head. There is NO entry fee for Group Classes.
Computing Ages: Birth dates as listed on the ABGA registration certificate will be used to determine the class divisions.
Identification: All goats must have a legible permanent ear identification (ear tags are not permanent ID) corresponding to the registration certificate upon arrival on the grounds. The exhibitor is responsible for providing a microchip reader for goats registered with a microchip as permanent identification (registered prior to 4/15/00). YOUR GOAT WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FOR JUDGING WITHOUT PROPER IDENTIFICATION.
Classes: All goats must be registered purebred, fullblood or percentage blood Boer goats. Percentage doe classes are for goats 50% to 87.5% Boer. Fulblood classes are for does that are 15/16 blood (93.7%) and higher and 31/32 blood (96.8%) and higher for bucks. Progeny of fresh does will NOT be allowed in the ring. Goats entered in group classes also must be entered and shown in the appropriate individual class.
Heelers: Heelers will be allowed in the yearling classes and older.
Alcohol: No alcohol will be allowed in the barn.
Displays: Exhibitors are permitted to display at their own risk prize ribbons or trophies at their allocated space during the entire show. They may have their sign over their exhibit advertising their own herd.
Unauthorized Goats: Goats that have not paid an entry fee will not be allowed on the grounds, with the exception of those goats that are nursing (Examples - the mother of a 60-day-old entry or the 40-day-old offspring of a two-year-old entry).
Judging: Exhibitors are responsible for knowing the times at which their goats will be judged. Any goat not presented promptly will be ruled ineligible and barred from competition in the class.
Exhibitor Conduct: If any exhibitor, in any way, whether in person or by agent, or servant, interferes with the judges during their adjudication, or shows any disrespect to them, or the show, JABGA may demand a proper apology from the exhibitor, may exclude him from competition, bar him from the grounds, and may also withhold prizes that may have been awarded.
Animal Health Requirements: All animals must have a valid health certificate to meet the Texas Health requirements. All animals in the barn must comply with Federal and State Scrapie requirements.
Bedding/Feed: Pens will be set on a bed of sand. Upon arrival, the pens will NOT have shavings. Shavings will be provided for a fee. Exhibitors can provide their own shavings. Any hay brought into the barn must be placed in a feeder with a catch trough. Exhibitors will be expected to clean all hay residue before vacating the premises.
Exhibitor Numbers: Each entry will be assigned a number. Exhibitors will receive cards which correspond with the numbers; these must be worn in the show ring by exhibitor when goats are being judged.
Fitting: Fitting will be left up to the discretion of the exhibitor. The use of any artificial color, hair or hair-like substances is prohibited. If an exhibitor’s goat is found to have been dyed the goat will be disqualified from the show and the exhibitor will be banned from future JABGA National Shows. Any evidence of a cosmetic surgical alteration of an exhibited animal will be disqualified and will be banned from future JABGA National Shows. The use of any performance enhancing drug and/or chemical, their substitutes or derivatives, is prohibited without veterinary approval on the animal’s health certificate and will result in disqualification.
The exhibitor agrees to submit any goat entered by him/her to inspection by any veterinarian appointed by the Board of Directors, and agrees to have such goat submitted to such tests as may be requested. JABGA also reserves the right to DNA blood test and/or urine laboratory test any goat entered for competition. The conclusions based upon the analysis of any of these tests by the veterinarian from any claims or demands whatsoever in connection with the inspection or testing of any such goat or any ruling or action taken due to the conclusion of the veterinarian. If an animal is found to test positive for any performance enhancing drug and/or chemical, their substitutes or derivatives, the animals sample will be sent to a second lab for confirmation testing. If this confirmation test is returned positive the owner of the animal must include a statement of the reason for the use of the drug/chemical in said animal and must be signed by the prescribing veterinarian. The JABGA Directors reserve the right to accept or reject the validity of the reason given. All testing required by the JABGA will be performed at labs selected by JABGA, will be paid for by the JABGA and completed within 60 days after the show.
Pets: Pets on the grounds must be leashed. JABGA reserves the right to remove disruptive pets from the grounds.
Liability: The exhibitor will be liable for damage to fences, other goats or injury to people. In addition to penning, unruly bucks may be required to be restrained or removed from the show if deemed necessary by the show management. If any goat is a threat to the public or is unruly, precaution must be taken. Exhibitors are responsible for the actions of their goats.
Awards: Ribbons will be awarded to the first through tenth place goats in all classes. $500 and banners will be awarded to all Grand and Reserve Champion goats. Premiums in the individual classes will be paid based on the following schedule:

Premier Exhibitor: The Premier Exhibitor award will be given to the Premier Percentage Exhibitor and the Premier Fullblood Exhibitor determined on the 10 point system. If there are 10 or more goats in the class the first place goat will receive 10 points, second place 9 points, etc. through 10th. If there are less than 10 goats, the first place goat will receive points equal to the number in the class. Champion points will be determined as follows:

Herdsman of the Year: The Jennifer Ann Stern Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the herdsman of the year. This is a traveling trophy and the winner is responsible for returning it to JABGA for the 2003 National Show.
Overall Premier Exhibitor: The Overall Premier Exhibitor will be awarded to the exhibitor that has the highest number of premier exhibitor points when percentage and Fullblood points are combined. This is a traveling trophy and the winner is responsible for returning it to JABGA for the 2003 National Show.

Open Market Show Rules
JMGSC Sanctioned and Sanctioned Showmanship
1. Goats must have milk teeth in normal position and no evidence of permanent teeth showing at the time of weigh in.
2. Goats used for showmanship must be entered in the sanctioned show.
3. Goats must be uniformly shorn 3/8” or less above the knees and hocks.
4. Goats will be required to have horns tipped, no sharp points allowed.
5. Goats shall be free of any health or skin illnesses and have a health certificate.
6. This show is for wethers or doe kids.
7. There will be an official weight with no weigh back.
8. Goats must be weighed in by 9AM on July 21.
9. There will be a minimum weight of 35 pounds.
10. Pay back will be 75%, with $150 for Grand and $100 for Reserve Grand animals.
