FIRST ANNUAL WILL ROGERS CLASSIC PRODUCTION SALE

On the 28th of August the first annual Will Rogers Classic Production Sale was held in Claremore, Oklahoma. The sale was hosted by six breeders from three different states; David & Rhonda Eden (Big Rock Boers), Pete & Beverly Warlick (Hilltop Ranch), Jeff & Melissa Latham (Lazy L Ranch), Les & Lee Mesnard (Double L Ranch), Tracy & Beverly Kiehl (4 Kids Boer Goats), Bob & Trish Hamilton and Mark Hamilton (Triple H Boers). All of these breeders are well known in the show ring and brought some of the best genetics in the Boer goat industry to the Will Rogers Classic Production Sale. The Will Rogers Classic Production Sale was held at the Claremore Expo Center. The sale was held in the main coliseum with the comforts of air conditioning, comfortable seating, and a full concession and dining area. In addition to the concessions, Lee & Les Mesnard provided mild and spicy goat jerky for all in attendance.

We would like to thank everyone for their support of the first annual Will Rogers Classic Production Sale. On the Friday evening before the sale, Mr. John Edwards of Erath General Genetics Services (EGGS) presented the Boer Goat 101 Seminar, which was attende d by over 150 goat enthusiast. During the sale, Mr. John Edwards presented and gave his professional opinion of each goat offered to the eager crowd. Many of the goats offered had proven themselves as champions. There were a lot of excited new owners after the sale. Many of the new owners already had plans to show these animals within the following week of the sale. There were approximately 300 people in attendance form 10 different states including; OK, KS, NE, CO, MO, AR, TX, AL, NY, & IA.

There were 72 lots of registered Boer goats offered. The proceeds from the production sale totaled $92,850.00. Percentage does averaged $507.00 with the high selling animal bringing $800.00. The high selling percentage doe was offered by Jeff & Melissa Latham (Lazy L Ranch) and was purchased by Mr. Gary Criser of Kansas. Full blood does averaged $1412.00 with the high selling animal bringing $7100.00. The high selling full blood doe was offered by Tracy & Beverly Kiehl (4 Kids Boer Goats) and was purchased by Dr. Rad of New York. Full blood bucks averaged $1184.00 with the high selling animal bringing $2000.00. The high selling full blood buck was offered by Pete & Beverly Warlick (Hilltop Ranch) and was purchased by Mr. Don Bias of Oklahoma.
