Langston Announces 2005 Buck Test

The eighth annual Buck Performance Test sponsored by the Oklahoma Meat Goat Association in conjunction with Langston University will begin on May 7, 2005 at Langston University in Langston, OK.

The test is approved by the International Boer Goat Association and the American Boer Goat Association to be used in their Ennoblement Program.

Any buck kid regardless of breed born between Dec 1 2004 and March 31, 2005 are eligible to participate in the Buck Performance Test. (Papers are not necessary unless you would like to take advantage of the ennoblement program.)

The cost of the test is $125 per animal and that includes feed, vet bills, prep examination, sonograms, and veterinary examinations once a week.

The 84 day test at Langston University has the capability to measure the

individual feed intake of each buck and also record the weight gain of each buck. It is the only test station in the nation to offer these services.

The Oklahoma Meat Goat Association is only responsible for the administrative part of the test. We handle the finances, advertising, purchasing feed and paying the vet bills. Once the bucks arrive at the testing facility at Langston University, Dr. Terry Gipson and his personnel facilitate the handling and feeding of the bucks and the have the sole responsibility of conducting the test and the results.

For more information you can contact Dr. Terry Gipson at Langston University 405-466-3836, or Jim Daniel 405-664-8329. Applications for the buck performance test are available for download at
